Repeal Proclamation 55 for tourism in Mindanao

THE Marcos Jr. administration should withdraw Presidential Proclamation 55 to boost tourism in Mindanao. Doing so could also help attract more foreign investors to the Southern Philippines.

Then-president Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation 55, Series of 2016, to address security issues early in his term, mainly from criminal syndicates like the Abu Sayyaf Group. With that, Mindanao was placed indefinitely under a state of emergency.
