SEVERAL areas in Luzon and Visayas have been placed under Signal No. 1 as Severe Tropical Storm Egay intensified while moving west-northwest, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Sunday.

Areas in Luzon under Signal No. 1 include Catanduanes, the eastern portion of Camarines Sur (Garchitorena, Caramoan and Presentacion), northern portion of Aurora (Casiguran, Dilasag), eastern portion of Isabela (Dinapigue, Divilacan, Maconacon, Palanan, Ilagan City, San Mariano, Tumauini, San Pablo and Cabagan) and eastern portion of Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Lal-Lo, Gattaran, Baggao and Peñablanca).
