"EGAY' has intensified into a severe tropical storm but it remains offshore while moving westward, the weather agency said on Sunday.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the severe tropical storm, which may further escalate into a typhoon within 24 hours, was estimated 610 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte.
