(UPDATE) THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on Friday that the Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island recorded increased seismic activity and sulphur dioxide (SO2) gas emission for the past 24 hours.
Phivolcs Director Teresito "Toto" Bacolcol told The Manila Times that the volcano has been under Alert Level 1 since March 2020 but should "the uptrend in monitoring parameters persist, its status may be raised to Alert Level 2 to warn of increasing unrest."
