SEOUL: A bilateral consulting group of South Korean and United States officials met on Tuesday in Seoul to discuss strengthening their nations' deterrence capabilities against North Korea's evolving nuclear threats.

Seoul officials say the body — called the Nuclear Consultative Group, established as part of agreements US President Joe Biden and South Korean leader Yoon Suk Yeol made when they met in April — is tasked with sharing information on nuclear and strategic weapons operation plans and discussing joint operations.
