MONETARY authorities have doubled the amount per transaction using Philippine coins to encourage the use of the legal tender in payments and cash settlements in the country.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Circular 1162, Series of 2022, sets to P2,000 from P1,000 the limit for 1-, 5-, 10- and 20-peso coin transactions, and up to P200 from P100 for the 1, 5, 10 and 25 centavo coins.
