THE government is focusing on three priority areas for the defense sector: the implementation of the Philippines' Self-Reliant Defense Posture (SRDP) Program; the reorganization of the Defense department; and the creation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Retirement Trust Fund.

The priority areas were underscored by Defense Secretary Gilberto 'Gibo' Teodoro Jr. during his meeting with a delegation from the United States Business Executives for National Security, led by BENS President and CEO, retired US Army Gen. Joseph Votel. They met on July 11, Department of National Defense (DND) spokesman Arsenio Andolong said.
