Comelec disqualifies Aurora vice gov for using govt resources in May 2022 polls

A division of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has disqualified Aurora Vice Gov. Gerardo Noveras for using the resources of the provincial government in the printing of his campaign materials for the May 9, 2022 local and national polls.

In a 29-page resolution, the Comelec First Division, led by Commissioner Socorro Inteng, found Noveras liable for violating Section 261(d)(1) of the Omnibus Election Code, a provision that punishes public officers who engage in the coercion of subordinates.
