JERUSALEM: Protests erupted across Israel on Tuesday, hours after parliament adopted on first reading a key clause of the government's judicial overhaul package that opponents say threatens democracy.
The government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu forged ahead with the controversial move despite mass demonstrations since the reforms were proposed in January.
