CASH flow holds great importance for all businesses, but micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are particularly vulnerable to disruptions in cash flows.
In the Philippines, nearly 36 percent of the country's GDP is generated by the SME sector, and a significant 63 percent of the workforce is employed by these businesses. The 2021 List of Establishments (LE) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) recorded a total of 1,080,810 business enterprises operating in the country and of these, 1,076,279 (99.58 percent) are MSMEs.
