Italy deals Japan its first loss in electric contest

In an electrifying contest, Italy dealt Japan its first loss after earning a 29-27, 28-26, 23-25, 25-20 triumph in the 2023 Men's Volleyball Nations League (VNL) at the jampacked Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, July 8.

Unable to sweep the Japanese in the third frame, the Italians recovered from deficits in the fourth frame to close out the crowd-favorite and finished their preliminary round campaign with a 9-3 slate, second in the standings as of posting time.
