THE mandate of the CICC is to protect and secure the country through effective institutional programs and policy development to combat cybercrime and to strengthen domestic and international cooperation on cyber intelligence, investigation and digital operations. The mission of the CICC is to prevent and suppress cybercrimes to protect the people and assure the integrity of the nation's digital transformation.
As defined under Republic Act 11479 (Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020), a critical infrastructure is an asset or system, whether physical or virtual, so essential to the maintenance of vital societal functions or to the delivery of essential public services, that the incapacity or destruction of such systems and assets would have a debilitating impact on national defense and security, the national economy, public health or safety, the administration of justice, and other analogous functions. It may include, but is not limited to, an asset or system affecting telecommunications, water and energy supply, emergency services, food security, fuel supply, banking and finance, transportation, radio and television, information systems and technology, and chemical and nuclear sectors.
