THE United Architects of the Philippines' Philippine Bamboo Project Special Committee (UAP PBPSC) is overseeing a three-year program under the office of UAP President Richard M. Garcia that not only advocates for local bamboo, but is also part of the organization's future-proofing thrust.
The UAP PBPSC aims to define Philippine bamboo in local communities and create opportunities in the bamboo industry. With this in mind, UAP members, in collaboration with local government units, bamboo cooperatives and the Philippine Bamboo Foundation Inc. (PBFI), plan to set up bamboo centers that will be used initially as training facilities. Later, it shall include other activities, such as treating and manufacturing local bamboo materials.
