Chot Reyes still not satisfied

GILAS Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes refused to get carried away by the national side's 70-61 win over the under-20 Ukraine side on Saturday night in their tune-up game in Kaunas, Lithuania.
Reyes noted that while the national squad managed to hold the taller Ukrainians to just 61 points, he still rated Gilas' game as its 'worst game.'

'If I were to rate it, I think this is the worst game that we've played since the start,' Reyes told One Sports' Carlo Pamintuan in an interview posted on the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas' Facebook page.
The outspoken national mentor cited the defensive lapses as one of the aspects Gilas needs to improve on at the close of the team's third tune-up game in the European trip.
Nonetheless, not everything is negative for Gilas, added Reyes.
'In our overall journey in the process, we focused on cutting down on our turnovers, not giving up offensive rebounds, and then, being able to execute the defense that we worked on yesterday. I think we were able to do that,' Reyes noted.
Still, the 59-year-old Gilas mentor is grateful for the chance for the team to learn against top European squads in their ongoing buildup for the FIBA World Cup.
'We're also getting the benefit of the practice we need, especially as we play against a tall team, very well-disciplined, well-coached,' he said.
'When you get this kind of competition, it only makes you better,' added Reyes.
Gilas is scheduled for a rematch with this same Ukraine squad on Sunday at 5 p.m. Manila time.
