(UPDATE) THE Manila Electric Company (Meralco) on Friday said it respects the decision of the Supreme Court to uphold a Court of Appeals ruling that the power firm broke the law when it cut off the electric supply of a consumer without notice.

Meralco spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga said in a statement that "we have not officially received a copy of the Supreme Court decision. In any case, we will respect and abide by the said decision."
