THE province of Palawan has emerged as the most preferred travel destination of Filipinos based on an online survey conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia.
In the Pahayag Second Quarter survey, Palawan emerged as the top favorite with 23 percent of respondents expressing their desire to visit the province.
In second place is Baguio City, the country's summer capital, at 16 percent, followed by both Cebu and Siargao at 9 percent each.

PUBLiCUS noted, however, that Cebu was the preferred destination among respondents in the Visayas at 21 percent while 13 percent of Mindanaoans prefer Siargao.
Aklan, home to Boracay Island, took 8 percent among respondents, followed by Batanes at 6 percent, Bohol at 4 percent, and Davao at 3 percent.
Ten percent of North Central Luzon respondents, however, said that they prefer going to Batanes, while 10 percent of Mindanao respondents said that they prefer going to Davao.
In a statement, PUBLiCUS said the results underlined the diverse preferences and interests of Filipinos when it comes to travel destinations.
'The enchanting beauty of Palawan, the charm of Baguio City, and the cultural experiences offered by Cebu, Siargao, Aklan, Batanes, Bohol, and Davao have all contributed to their popularity among travelers,' it added.
The results also come after the Department of Tourism announced a brand new tourism slogan, 'LOVE The Philippines,' which PUBLiCUS said was a reaffirmation of its commitment to showcasing the unparalleled beauty and attractions of the country.
PUBLiCUS also said that the new slogan 'encapsulates the spirit of appreciation and admiration for the diverse landscapes, rich culture and warm hospitality that the Philippines has to offer.'
The independent and noncommissioned survey was conducted from June 7 to 12, with a sample size of 1,500 adult respondents drawn from a market research panel of 200,000 Filipinos maintained by PureSpectrum.
The samples were distributed across five geographical areas, National Capital Region, North Central Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao and only included registered Filipino voters.
