Doumbia-Henry runs for IMO position, advocates for seafarers

CLEOPATRA Doumbia-Henry, outgoing president of the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmo, Sweden, vowed to protect seafarers' jobs, rights and welfare should she be elected as the next secretary-general of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

Professor Maximo Mejia Jr. was selected by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) secretary-general and WMU chancellor Kitack Lim to succeed Dr. Doumbia-Henry. Mejia will take over the president's role on June 29, 2023.
