A new blood bank facility opened to the public on Tuesday in Manila in line with the national voluntary program of the Department of Health (DoH) which is to provide access to "safe and adequate blood supply," especially in emergencies.
"At least now, we will have our own blood supply that is badly needed whenever our fellow Manileño is being hospitalized, especially those who will be needing blood for special procedures. As it is not always readily available, at least now, we can assure that the six hospitals of Manila will have enough supply of blood," Manila Mayor Maria Sheila "Honey" Lacuna-Pangan said during the opening in Sta. Ana.
