Baguio police continue forest patrols

BAGUIO CITY: Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) personnel continue to keep their daily forest patrols to guard the Summer Capital's watersheds and forests against squatters and land speculators. Mayor Benjamin Magalong cited the big contribution of Baguio's Finest to the anti-squatting campaign, which has been scoring headway in stopping illegal construction activities, mainly through the vigilant monitoring and reporting by the uniformed personnel and concerned citizens. He had deputized policemen as environment officers to strengthen the enforcement of the city's environmental and sanitation laws. BCPO Director, Col. Francisco Bulwayan Jr., said their regular patrol activities now include scouring safeguarded lots, including forest reservations and watersheds, for illegal settlers. Apart from policing the watershed, BCPO teams from various stations also go around the different barangay for uncollected garbage, cluttered sidewalks, and smelly creeks and waterways.
