US, China 'reestablish lines of communication'

THE United States 'reestablished lines of communication' with China and assured that while the two countries would compete 'vigorously,' the US would manage that competition 'responsibly' to avoid conflict.

This was the result of the meeting between Secretary of State Antony Blinken who was in Beijing on June 18 and 19 for meetings with President Xi Jinping, Director of the CCP Central Foreign Affairs Office Wang Yi, and State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang, said Daniel J. Kritenbrink, US Assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs; and Sarah Beran, special assistant to the President of the United States and US National Security Council senior director for China and Taiwan Affairs in a digital briefing on Tuesday.
