Asean-6 growth seen hitting 4.2% this year

THE Asean-6 economies of Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam are expected to collectively grow by 4.2 percent this year, exceeding the projected global gross domestic product (GDP) growth of 2.0 percent.

Maybank Group President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dato' Khairussaleh Ramli, speaking at the start of the bank's annual investment conference in Singapore, said the growth estimate meant that the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) was likely to remain a bright spot amid intensifying headwinds as the region's resilience is once more on display,' Ramli said.
