Bulacan commemorates 162ND birth anniversary of Rizal

MALOLOS, Bulacan: 'May we ignite our love for our country and our determination to be true heroes in our activities and actions. Let us live by his teachings and aspirations so that his spirit will continue to shine in each one of us.' This was the message of Gov. Daniel Fernando during the commemoration of the 162nd birth anniversary of the Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal that was held in the NHCP Museo ng Kasaysayang Pampulitika ng Pilipinas, Casa Real on Monday, June 19. The governor was also joined by Vice Gov. Alexis Castro, Malolos City Vice Mayor Miguel Alberto Bautista, and Provincial History, Arts, Culture and Tourism Office department head Dr. Eliseo de la Cruz. He also took this opportunity to remind his fellow Bulakenyos about Rizal's heroic actions and for them to reflect and carry on Rizal's remarkable legacy. 'For his heroism, may we be inspired to do the same in our own way — serving others,' Fernando said. Dr. Jose Rizal was admired for his nationalistic writings and activities and was executed on Dec. 30, 1896, by the Spanish colonial government.
