Comelec: Automated polls too expensive

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) said it dropped plans to automate the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) because it would cost at least P40 billion.

'We have plans to automate [the barangay and SK elections], but it always depends if Congress would give the budget needed by the Comelec,' said Comelec Chairman George Erwin Garcia over the weekend.
