Cine Europa is back. On June 16, I was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Cine Europa Film Festival, now celebrating its 26th year. Cine Europa is the longest flagship film festival in the Philippines, organized annually by the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines and the EU Member States with the EU Cultural Institutes.

With the increasing dominance of Hollywood films in the local box office and the serious lack of non-English language titles in commercial cinemas, Cine Europa has been the platform to promote European cinema in the country.
