Mayon Volcano emits more sulfur dioxide gas

THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on Friday that Mayon Volcano in Albay, currently under Alert Level 3, continues to emit higher sulphur dioxide (SO2) gas as well as rock fall events during the past 24-hour period.

Phivolcs chief Teresito Bacolcol said that a total of 13 pyroclastic density currents (PDCs), 307 rock fall events and four volcanic earthquakes were recorded as compared with three PDCs, 306 rock fall events and two volcanic tremors on Thursday, June 15.
