PHIVOLCS raised the status of the Mayon volcano to alert level 3 on Thursday (8 June) with a warning of a potential hazardous eruption in the coming days or weeks. Families residing within the 6-kilometer radius permanent danger zone in Albay are being evacuated.

UNICEF is closely monitoring the situation of families and children affected and remains ready to respond when called upon by the Philippine Government.
