BIR cracks whip on erring officials

THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) said it has dismissed 26 and suspended two of its personnel since last year for dereliction of duty.

'The reasons for the dismissal of erring BIR officials varies from grave misconduct [to] serious dishonesty, frequent unauthorized absences, falsification of official documents, gross neglect of duty, insubordination and absence without official leave,' the BIR said in a statement.
