THE currency returned to the P55:$1 level on Tuesday, but the stock market ended the day flat as investors awaited news about US inflation, seen as providing clues as to the outcome of this week's Federal Reserve (Fed) meeting.

The currency strengthened by 10 centavos to P55.95 against the dollar as markets reopened following Monday's Independence Day break.
