DANCESPORT is an emerging sport, and the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman ensures that the reach and recognition of this sport widens by providing dancesport-related avenues for the whole community.

This year, UP will be holding a two-part dancesport competition titled the Oblation Dancesport Championship 2023. This event is presented by the UP Dancesport Faculty and co-presented by the UP Dancesport Society, in partnership with the UP Diliman Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts.

Phase 1 of the event, which was held last June 11, consisted of two major segments: 'Isko You Think You Can Dance' is a segment for the over 300 students of UP Diliman PE classes in Latin ballroom, standard ballroom and South American social dances, while 'The Final Showdown' is a segment for the trainees of the university's official ballroom dancing organization, the UP Dancesport Society.

Meanwhile, Phase 2 of the Oblation Dancesport Championship 2023 will be held on November 25 and will consist of both syllabus and open choreography dancesport events that are all open to the general public. Cash prizes also await the winners of selected events.
