WHAT does it take to be a hero? In the Philippine architecture community, the answer would probably be: becoming a highly successful architect with tons of projects, having a lot of connections and motivating students to be like him or her. But if that's the only answer, then we're missing something consequential.
When the chance to take up architecture presented itself to me in the summer of 2006, my only motivation was to strengthen my discipline in drawing comics and learn how to draw background buildings with the correct perspective. I didn't really expect how insane the course was: it was a multidisciplinary technical course that went beyond just drawing apples and copying falling water.
