TUGUEGARAO CITY: A 67-year-old trader and his 47-year-old partner died after they were apparently hit with a 'hard object' in an alleged robbery-slay inside their house in Barangay Punta, Aparri, Cagayan on Friday past midnight, police said. Maj. Jefferson Mukay, Aparri police chief, identified the fatalities as Ramon Ramones, 67, and his live-in partner, Derlina Bambalan, 47. Ramones' daughter, Rubilyne Ramones-Larafabonan, went to his father's house as their grocery was still closed at around 7:30 a.m. on June 9 and found them bathed in blood inside the living room. Cpl. Darryl John Bingil, Aparri police investigator, said Derlina died on the spot while Ramon was brought to the Charles W. Selby Memorial Hospital and was transferred to the Grupo Medico de Dios Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Both succumbed to multiple head and body injuries. Bingil said that the couple was possibly battered with a 'hard object' but it was not seen at the crime scene. Jewelry, cash, and other valuables have been missing but the police have yet to release the total estimated amount. The couple's companion, an 86-year-old kinswoman, was found safe inside the house. Police did not discount a possible inside job while the family of the dead requested privacy as they mourn their loved ones.
