The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology wants residents in at least 30 villages in Albay province removed from the six-kilometer radius of the permanent danger zone (PDZ) around restive Mayon Volcano, which has been placed under Alert Level 3.

Phivolcs director Teresito "Toto" Bacolcol told The Manila Times that with an increased risk of hazardous eruption, concerned local government units (LGUS) must ensure that the affected villagers are evacuated to safer areas.
