Red Cross evacuates 300 children from Khartoum orphanage

Khartoum, Sudan: Infants and special needs children were among 300 children evacuated from a Khartoum orphanage where they were caught in the crossfire of Sudan's raging battles, the Red Cross said Thursday.

'Three hundred children and 70 caretakers were evacuated from the Maygoma orphanage' in Khartoum, said Alyona Synenko, a spokeswoman for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
