Unborn child entitled to support

Dear PAO,

I am four months pregnant, and the father of my unborn child is my ex-boyfriend. I tried to ask my ex-boyfriend for financial support, as I am currently unemployed due to a high-risk pregnancy, while he is gainfully employed and living a single and unburdened life. However, he said that he will only give support when the child is born. Can he validly refuse to give support to our unborn child?
