THIS year's global economic slowdown will not be as bad as previously expected with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the World Bank both issuing slightly higher forecasts.

The Paris-based OECD forecast an economic expansion of 2.7 percent, up from 2.6 percent in its previous report in March, with upgrades for the United States, China and the eurozone.
