(UPDATE) TWO volcanoes — Taal and Mayon — which earlier had their alert status raised following an increase in degassing activity and rockfall events, respectively, have calmed down for now, the top state seismologist said on Wednesday.
Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) Director Teresito Bacolcol told The Manila Times via Viber that they were continuously monitoring the movements of the two volcanoes — Taal in Batangas and Mayon in Albay — since their statuses were raised to Alert Levels 1 and 2, respectively.
