'Chedeng' now a tropical storm but remains far from PH landmass – Pagasa

A low pressure area (LPA) hovering over the Philippines has developed into a tropical storm and will be called 'CHEDENG' (international name: Guchol) although it remains far from the country's landmass, the state-run weather agency said on Wednesday.

Weather specialist Obet Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said, however, that it is the southwest monsoon or 'habagat' that is bringing rain in most parts of the country, particularly Southern Luzon.
