CRIMINAL complaints were filed by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) before the justice department against 35 government and private individuals in connection with the sinking of oil tanker MT Princes Empress that caused a massive oil spill in the coastal towns of Mindoro Oriental and nearby areas.
The NBI Environmental Crime Division filed the complaints on Tuesday against seven incorporators and directors of DC Reield Marine Services Inc, six crew members of the ill-fated tanker, 19 members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) director in Region V (Bicol Region) and the head of the Marina Shipyard in Region V.
