TUGUEGARAO CITY: A 15-year-old boy and a 3-year-old boy drowned in Quirino and Cagayan provinces over the weekend. In Quirino, the 15-year-old drowned on Friday afternoon during a picnic at the Pinaripad River in Pinaripad, Aglipay where he and his classmates went after deciding to cut classes, a disaster official said on Saturday. Aglipay Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management officer Antonio Diaz said the fatality, Aldred Mikel Manuel, a high school student, and his classmates allegedly drank liquor while swimming. Manuel was allegedly one of those who got drunk. The boy allegedly went into the deep part of the river and did not resurface even though he was said to be a swimmer. Rescuers found the body of Manuel hours after, but was declared dead at a hospital. In Cagayan, 3-year-old John David Bandulin of Gammad, Iguig town drowned after he and a playmate went to the Cagayan River unnoticed. His body was found hours later.
