IMF calls for carbon pricing

WASHINGTON, D.C.: Carbon pricing will be needed to help finance the global transition to renewable energy, the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) second-most senior official said Wednesday, warning against escalating the use of 'green' subsidies.

'I think we really need to, you know, put carbon pricing squarely on the table despite all the political issues surrounding it,' the IMF's First Deputy Managing Director Gita Gopinath said at a conference in Washington.
