SUPER typhoon "Mawar" entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility early Saturday and is now locally called "Betty," the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its 5 a.m. forecast that Betty entered PAR at 2 a.m. slightly weaker, packing maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour (kph) from its peak of 215 kph and with gustiness of P240kph. It is moving faster at 25kph west-northwestward toward extreme Northern Luzon in the areas of Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
