THE peso regained some ground on Tuesday but the stock market fell anew on continued uncertainty over talks to extend the US debt ceiling.

The currency strengthened by nine-and-a-half centavos to close at P55.725 against the dollar, while the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) shed 17.27 points, or 0.26 percent, to end the day at 6,603.56
