NESTHY Petecio may not have won the gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 but she felt fulfilled after her stint that saw her become the first Filipino female boxer to earn a medal in the Games.Petecio took home a silver after losing to Japanese Sena Irie in the women's featherweight class. The 31-year-old admitted that after her Olympic run, she found it hard to keep going, asking if she still wants to give it one more try for the gold.'It's hard to motivate myself. It came to a point when I was asking myself if I still want it, if I can still do it,' said Petecio, who won her second Southeast Asian Games gold medal in Phnom Penh more than a week ago.'The Tokyo Olympics, I reached the top of my dream despite not being able to win the gold.'Still, she remains steadfast in her Olympic drive, going back to that old motto of her: 'Walang hinto hangga't walang ginto' (There's no quitting until I win the gold).'But I keep coming back to my motto that I'm not going to stop until I win a gold in the Olympics. I keep going back to that and I keep trying to find other sources of strength for me to make another Olympic run.'Honestly, I'm having a hard time to make my way back but my inner Nesthy is stubborn. We can still do it.'The pride of Davao del Sur said she's inspired to keep going because of her fellow Olympians Carlos Yulo, EJ Obiena, and Hidilyn Diaz, who delivered the Philippines' first-ever gold medal in the Olympics.'I really want to get that gold in the Olympics. I idolize champ Hidi (Hidilyn Diaz). I look up to her and Caloy (Carlos Yulo) and EJ (Obiena).'
