US debt ceiling issue weighs on peso, PSEi

THE peso and the stock market both fell on Monday due to heightened uncertainties over an needed increase in the United States' debt ceiling.

The currency weakened by 15 centavos to P55.82 against the dollar while the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) shed 43.72 points or 0.66 percent to end the day at 6,620.83.
