BACOLOD CITY: Ten alleged members of the communist New People's Army (NPA) were killed in a series of encounters with troops from the 62nd Infantry Battalion (62IB) in Barangay Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental on Saturday, May 20, and in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental, on Sunday, May 21.
In a statement, the 62IB said that it launched combat operations after receiving information from civilians of planned NPA attacks in Moises Padilla and the neighboring town of La Castellana, Negros Occidental.
