BACOLOD CITY: Sugar planters groups are divided over the recent go signal from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to import 150,000 metric tons (MT) of sugar.

Manuel Lamata, president of the United Sugar Producers Federation of the Philippines (Unifed), said he welcomed the government's move to import more sugar citing "retail prices remain high."
