GLOBE Telecoms on Friday called on the local government units (LGUs) in Visayas and Mindanao to support the telephone companies (telcos) in their bid to increase the number of registered users, especially in far-flung areas.

"We need government support to roll out infrastructure that can be leased by telcos in missionary areas such as the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Marawi, and other regions where telcos have a weak presence. Local government units are also critical in pushing for the registration of their constituents," Globe's general counsel Froilan Castelo said.
