'Chemical tankers should be banned'

COMMUNITIES and civic groups affected by the oil spill from the sunken MT Princess Empress tanker call for the prohibition of all tankers carrying toxic cargo along the Verde Island Passage (VIP).

The call was made as the House of Representatives Committee on Ecology and Committee on Natural Resources jointly held a hearing on Tuesday in relation to the oil spill caused by the sunken tanker off Naujan, Oriental Mindoro on February 28.
