Traditional power plants still needed

Traditional energy sources are still needed if the country is to attain energy security, the president and CEO of Aboitiz Power Corp. (AboitizPower) said, especially during the summer when electricity demand is at its highest and amid growing demand for dependable supplies.

"[Existing] thermal plants will continue to have a significant role to play in terms of providing reliable and stable power for the country," AboitizPower President and CEO Emmanuel Rubio said in a television interview.
