Prepare for extreme weather, schools urged

BIÑAN CITY Rep. Marlyn Alonte on Saturday urged the Department of Education (DepEd) to start working on contingencies on how schools should adapt to the extreme weather conditions with the impending onslaught of the El Niño phenomenon and the upcoming rainy season.

The chairman of the House Committee on Ecology previously said that climate adaptation was the most effective way to clearly minimize, if not completely eliminate excessive heat in schools, arguing that a temporary solution of installing air-conditioners would be a costly and impractical measure.
